Outback Inverters The FX series inverter is a leader in the revolution in advanced DC to AC inverter design. With its unique, sealed, gasketed, die-cast aluminum casing, it's virtually impervious to the major causes of inverter failure and contaminants such as moisture, dirt, insects and small animals. The Outback inverters can surge to double their rated power output. This means the inverter can be used to start electric motors that have a high demand for electricity in the first few seconds they get turned on. The Outback inverters are made on three removable printed circuit cards. In the event of any electrical failure a board swap can be done a lot easier than returning the whole inverter for service. This is the way an inverter should be designed. The OutBack FX series is a modular "building block” sine wave inverter/charger that can be used for both small and large power systems. Each OutBack FX inverter/charger is a complete power conversion system - DC to AC inverter, battery charger and AC transfer switch. Additional FX inverter/chargers can be connected at any time in either parallel (120 VAC), series (120/240 VAC), or three-phase (120Y208 VAC) configurations. This allows a system to be tailored to meet the specific power conversion requirements of the application, both at the time of the installation and in the future. The OutBack FX series is also available in export versions with 230 VAC, 50 hz output that can be connected in parallel (230 VAC) or in three phase (230Y400 VAC) configurations. The OutBack FX is designed to survive harsh environments anywhere in the world. The FX can be used in high ambient applications up to 60°C with reduced output ratings. - A "V" in front of the model number indicates the inverter is vented. A vented inverter has more ability to cool the components thereby giving you higher power capacity.
- A "T" in front of the model number indicates a "Turbo" fan that blows air on the fins of the case. The hot components are mounted on the opposite side of the case so the components can be cooled while maintaining a totally sealed case.
- A "G" in front of the model number indicates the inverter can act as a grid intertie system. These inverters are designed to operate as a coordinated system with the other OutBack products i.e. the PSDC, PSAC and PSR enclosures as well as the
FM60 MPPT charge controllers and MATE system controller and display.
- An "M" located in the model number means the inverter is designed for Mobile or Marine use. In either case, it has a floating ground so you cannot get a ground fault when plugging in the inverter to the grid. With either a Mobile or Marine the grid connection is not permanent so the floating ground is necessary.
The OutBack FX series inverter/charger system is designed for both residential and commercial stand-alone or back-up power applications with battery energy storage.
